Submission for the Penguin book cover competition - for Patrick Suskind's 'Perfume'.
The concept behind the design is based upon the main characters use of scent to take on other personalities, and his obsession with creating the finest scent of all, giving him god like powers of those around him.
Thinking of the the Alan Fletcher quote, regarding massaging a cliché until it becomes a metaphor... To what extent it's successful is open to question.

Shoe book illustrations
A number of shoe illustrations produced for an artists book detailing shoes worn over a week... as you do.
More importantly, the project was intended to look at the use of typography (and hand rendered/letterpress typography specifically) combined with imagery, based upon an exercise in Erik Spiekermann's 'Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works'. The finished, digitally printed spreads are bound together in a stitched A5 booklet

Moseley Folk Festival
Design of a poster for the Moseley Folk Festival. This small project was intended to enable me to investigate typographic form and layout structures.
Influenced by traditional English folk art and the acoustic nature of the music, I was keen to use an analogue approach to the poster. Wanting to show the 'craft' behind the design, I produced a hand stitched background, allowing the 3 column layout of the design to be visible.
