Hobb buddies Logo

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. Some very constructive criticism which I've tried to work back into the logo.

I think the main thing, especially with the mothers, was the way the baby 'latches' onto the breast. Hopefully I've managed to convey this slightly better in this version...?

The immodesty issue was also something that came up - I've reduced the 'pnuematic' quality of the breast (thanks Natalie - made me chuckle) by reducing the top line and covered some of the more rounded form by having the baby move closer.

I've also reworked the hair, but am not sure if this is this is worse than before...?

Finally, colour! Some people liked the pink, others not so. I'd argue that for any form of communication, you want it to be obvious to those it's intended to speak to, especially with such a wide target audience. As such, using a colour with such connotations (pink = feminine) is hard to avoid. Saying this, I'm open to suggestions - I've included a sample of other colours - some more suitable than others (thinking of the WiiFit green one)...

Let me know what you think...

  1. Hey,

Personally I liked the pink :o) The lilac is nice too.

The green doesn't look right IMHO, nor do the darker colours... but the blues could work as are vaguely NHS-y, but not the usual NHS corporate blue which I don't think would be right.

Regarding the latch, the baby is closer, which is good, but on a technical issue you still need to make the baby's mouth open wider... really wide, sorry!

Boob is better, but still a little 'pneumatic' to use Natalie's word :o) Perhaps make her a little more flat chested, or them a little droopier (not saggy, you understand, but breast tissue doesn't stand up by itself, that's what a bra is for!) it needs to sit much closer to her body to look more natural. Think about how a fine gauge freezer bag of bolognese would sit if you held it (from the knot) against a wall and you wouldn't be far wrong!

Quite like the shorter hair, (less hippy-y and younger) but now her hair on the right hand side doesn't match!

The eyebrow nose area is much better. Could you also elongate her neck to give her more of a defined/feminine chin and jaw? That may help to reduce the masculinity further.

The only other thing I would add is that while the eye contact is lovely, she still seems to look a little sad, almost wistful to me, and would prefer her to look a little happier around the mouth, but I'm not sure if others agree.

Anyway, that's my two penn'orth for now!

  2. Hi Paul

I agree, the baby is better but needs a much more open mouth, if you need pics of a good latch then I can dig some out for you (not me I hasten to add, standard NCT issue).

I would prefer a pale green or the lilac personally, but colour is a very personal thing! I do understand what you say about pink=feminine, but that is one of my pet rants and I won't go there... :P

For me, I have no issues with the hair either way, and I like the expression of the face too! Tenderness with a hint of concentration which I do remember well...

As for the boob the weight of the baby would squash it in to the ribcage a bit more, so that could make it a bit more realistic.

Will be interested to see what everyone else says...
