Pen Room - Collateral Items

These were presented to the client, along with other collateral items for feedback prior to finalising the design elements.

Feedback was good at this point. The museum liked the simplification of the design elements over previously seen samples. They appreciated that their current literature isn't overly focused. Seeing the benefits of paring back the message, they would be able to engage their main target audience; families and school groups.

  1. Like the colour choice. The beige is very historical and gives a 'heritage' feel, but the turquoise really makes it more contemporary.
The only things I would say are that it's a shame the front cover shot of the young girl looks so outdated - very 80s. Not sure why. Possibly the background.
Also, re the map. Birmingham has 2 cathedrals as far as I'm aware - St Chad's the Catholic Cathedral and St Philip's the C of E one.
I like the pen and writing iconography. Reminds me of Quentin Blake's style. It could be used all over the museum for labels too, if the writing was turned into a font.

  2. Unfortunately, the photograph of the child was the best of those supplied. As it is, it's two photos merged together.

It would have been nice to be more involved in the process, but wasn't given the opportunity at the time and due to time constraints, couldn't organise another opportunity.

Thanks for Cathedral information - was going on the information supplied on their original leaflet. Think there's likely to be a couple of things that need changing prior to taking this forward for print - hopefully I'll be able to revise the photography too.
